6 Blogs About Beauty That Reviews Drugstore Makeup

Please save and share:

Blogs about beauty are somewhat scarce. Most of the beauty bloggers are YouTube stars or Instagram Influencers.

The beauty blogs that do exist are real gems but the unfortunate part is that very few, if any, talk about or review drugstore makeup. And it does come as a shock because the average American woman spends $3,756 on average a year on makeup.

That’s a lot!

Not all women have the ability to spend that much on makeup alone and the best alternative to high-end makeup brands is cheaper drugstore makeup.

Although I have my go-to high-end brands, there are some drugstore makeup brands that are comparable and even preferable.

Below I will talk about a few beauty blogs that recommend drugstore makeup that works just as well as luxury brands.

Blogs about Beauty #1: The Beauty Minimalist

The Beauty Minimalist is one of the best blogs about beauty run by Kara, a Maryland blogger. Kara clearly knows the ins and outs of the beauty world. She has worked for a beauty magazine and had a love for makeup since she was a little girl. This beauty blog talks about drugstore makeup and recommends products based on lifestyle and budget.

With that being said, here are a few drugstore makeup brands she recommends.

COVERGIRL TruNaked Queenship Shadow Sticks

L’oreal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso

These are all quality drugstore makeup brands and are inexpensive. In fact, if you follow these 3 recommendations, you’ll only end up spending a total of $20.35. That is $7 shy of getting 1 Kylie’s lipstick/ lipgloss!

Blogs about Beauty #3: Sephora collection

Although Sephora is not necessarily a blog about beauty or sale drugstore products. It is a shop all about beauty, where you can easily get drugstore-like makeup (private label Sephora brand).

And here are some of my favorites.

Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick

This is an amazing lipstick. Its weightless, liquid lip stain coats your lips in flawless color to become a transfer-proof, full-coverage, last-all-day stain. It comes in colors such as Glowing Beige, Vanilla Cream, Skin-deep, Pink Peony, Classic Beige, Hippy Pink, First Date, Infinite Rose etc.

They come in a range of different gorgeous colors that can be applied easily. You can snack and drink without too much loss of color. It’s a fantastic piece and it only costs $16

Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner

The main Color is: 01 Black – classic black

It is a Waterproof, smudge-proof, creamy eyeliner pencil. You can create a pop of color in a range of shades and finishes. It also includes a built-in sharpener and smudger.

Liner pencil never skips or tugs at eyelids. Use a smudge tip to blend the “set and stay” formula for a perfect smoky eye. Or for an ultra-precise line, apply with a freshly sharpened tip. It is also long-lasting wear and comes in a variety of classic and fun colors. Their finishes range from matte to shimmer to glitter.

Colorful Eyeshadow

A collection of highly pigmented pressed-powder eyeshadows. This collection of eyeshadows comes in shades from neutral to nude to vibrant matte, shimmer, glitter, and metallic finishes.

These creamy eyeshadows provide up to 10 hours of wear and give an intense color payoff. The matte, shimmer, and glitter shades are best used with a brush, and the metal- and sequin-glitter shades are best used with your fingers.

Best Skin Liquid Foundation

A liquid foundation with a medium-coverage, natural finish with a long-wearing, anti-pollution formula that hydrates skin for up to 12 hours and is infused with skincare benefits. The foundation provides a natural finish, a hydrating feel, has hyaluronic acid in it, and is fragrance-free.

A lot of beauty blogs (even the high-end blogs about beauty) have reviewed this product. And all conclude that this is a really good foundation with full coverage and makes your face look like an Instagram filter. In short, very smooth.

Blogs about Beauty #4: Refinery 29

Jessica Chou from Refinery 29 dishes out drugstore makeup brands that beauty bloggers have used and are raving about.

Some of the makeup products include:

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer

 Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm

Nyx Butter Gloss

Blogs about Beauty #5: Glamour beauty plus awards

Today majority of makeup enthusiasts are living in a golden age of drugstore beauty.  Once upon a time, most people had to sacrifice efficacy for affordability, that isn’t the case with drugstore makeup these days.

Although this website has more of a magazine style and not a blog about beauty, its content is based on people who love products that they are using with many naming drugstore beauty brands.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the drugstore makeup that made it to the top of the list this year.

Best Foundation: Revlon Photo Ready Candid Glow Moisture Foundation

Justine Marjan, celebrity hairstylist, vouches for this foundation for its blue light protection formula.

Best Concealer: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Radiant Cream Concealer

Maysoon Zayid, comedian says it’s her number one concealer. If that is not proof enough that it has good coverage, I don’t know what is.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation in a Powder

This is a full-coverage powder. It does not make you feel like you have an entire layer of product on your skin making it the perfect product especially if you have oily skin. Julie Kyles TikTok influencer loves this product and vouches for it.

CoverGirl TruBlend So Flushed Blush

It is a great blush for dark skinned girls as Khalifa, editor, said. It has good coverage and blending it, even for newbies is quite easy.

Blogs about Beauty #6: Slashed Beauty

Slashed beauty gives a list of lip gloss that can be worn during the summer and protect your lips by giving it an extra layer by preventing them from drying and looking so chapped.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip

If you are looking for long lasting color, this is your pick. It as an extreme matte feel to it and can really dry out your lips. But if you’re into the matte lip trend, this is definitely for you. On the flip side, because of the way it really matte dries, it is transfer proof and can last the entire day if you happen to stay away from oily foods.  Bumble is one of slashed beauty’s favorite shade so you can consider checking it out or pick the color that you really like.

Wet n Wild Mega Last High-Shine Lip Color

This is an amazing drugstore lipstick and it is ridiculously priced. You get 2 of them for only $3. For you to get a nice color, you just need to apply about two to three coats. The finish is absolutely glossy and doesn’t dry out your lips at all and because of that, it isn’t smudge-proof. But it holds well and doesn’t bleed throughout the day. Unlike the matte, though you will need to re-apply after some time.

Pop Beauty Permanent Pout

Finally, here’s another long-lasting matte for those who want to apply their color and forget about it! The Permanent Pout gives you a flat matte look that will stay in place. The consistency is thin, so it’s not heavy on the lips but it may feel drying if you don’t prep them.

H.I.P. Eyeshadow Duos, L’Oreal

Erin Bailey of Scandalous Beauty loves these super pigmented pods of eyeshadow. They are blendable, crease-resistant, and long-lasting, so they might just become your go-to for a night on the town. Bailey prefers the Brazen compact, which she says gets double the use out of by using the matte pink as blush and the dark brown as an eyebrow filler! Plus, there are so many duo types to choose from that will match your skin tone and the look you’re going for.

Infallible Lip Paints Metallics, L’Oreal

Danielle Gray, the original Style & Beauty Doctor, is crazy for these metallic lip paints in all colors. She says they are super pigmented and fairly long lasting for a product that isn’t marketed as such. This product doesn’t dry matte, so the glossy and metallic finish will last as long as the lip paint is on your lips.

Conclusion

Drugstore makeup has come a long way and drugstore no longer equates to low quality. The above-exhausted list gives you great options and is worth you testing out.
